Defining and using multivariate forest management targets to assess the suitability, sustainability, and economic viability of alternative forest management scenarios.

Software implementing the nonparametric empirical distance assessment procedures defined in Gehringer (2006) has been developed. The current version of the software consists of a stand-alone, Win32 compatible, command line executable program and documentation describing its use.

Modeling the potential availability of large woody debris (LWD) and shade or solar blocking for natural and managed riparian forests.Current versions of the working papers and presentations for this work may be found by following the links below.

  • A simulation model to estimate the potential availability of LWD (ALWD) and functional LWD (AFLWD) for differing stream sizes for riparian forests represented by treelists. (PDF)
  • A simulation model for multi-zone managed riparian buffers that incorporates the ALWD model. (PDF)
  • A presentation demonstrating the multi-zone managed buffer simulations that includes a prototype of a shade/solar blocking submodel. (PDF)
